The New Mexico Heart Institute Foundation (NMHIF) was established in 1985 by Dr. Barry Ramo, thanks to a generous donation from the family of a patient who recognized the importance of advancing heart health initiatives.

NMHIF provides vital medical education to healthcare providers and community members throughout the entire state of New Mexico. Local hospital staff members are typically invited to participate in our informative events, ensuring a broad reach within the community.

Our board is composed of dedicated medical professionals who are committed to the mission of education and outreach.

Physicians associated with The New Mexico Heart Institute emphasize the importance of educating not only other doctors and hospital staff but also the wider New Mexico community, fostering an informed public regarding heart health issues.

The NMHIF diligently oversees a wide array of impactful programs, including Project Heart Start, New Heart Fitness and Health, while also hosting the highly regarded annual Current Concepts in Cardiology conference.

As a recognized CME provider, NMHIF collaborates with various other medical establishments to facilitate continued medical education (CMEs) for local healthcare professionals.
